About this Interim Fix

This Interim fix contains fixes for SMS over SMPP service implementation of IBM® WebSphere® Telecom Web Services Server (TWSS), Version 6.1.1 release. This Interim fix is recommended for all customers with a TWSS 6.1.1 installation.

Fix and update history

The following SMPP fixes are included:

1) Usage records are written in the wrong place.

APAR LI72393

The usage records should be written when a response comes back from the network. Also, MSISDN information should be updated in usage records.

2) tel: is prepended while sending target to n/w and updating db.

APAR LI72393

When target number is passed to network, tel: is prepended to number and network doesn't recognize it to be a valid destination.

3) NullPointer exception while starting notification.

APAR LI72393

While starting SMS MMM notification, NullPointer exception is thrown. It does not affect SMS SMPP notification operation.

4) JCAConnector need to support send RingTone/Logo operations.

APAR LI72393

Add binary support to JCA adapter to support send RT/Logo operations.

5) Address plan validation is failing when blank "tel:+" is sent.

APAR LI72393

Address plan validation is failing when blank "tel:+" is passed as an address. Validation check is added to process blank address.

6) DCR 49 : Priority fix.

APAR LI72393

Support for Priority Policy is added to set the priority of messages in SMS over SMPP.

The following policies are used.

service.custom.priorityEnabled = true

service.custom.requestPriority = 1

(Note that requestPriority can be set to a different number of priority levels.)

service.custom.priority."alias"."requestPriority".Primary = User,Password

For example, for the default alias, define User,password as follows:

service.custom.priority.default.1.Primary = User,Password

service.custom.priority.default.1.Secondary = User,Password

7) Improper SMS segmentation.

APAR LI72463

The message is always being sent in three segments and the segments are random in size.

8) Extra characters added to SMS message.

APAR LI72452

If a message is being sent in multiple destination, it is received with two special characters appended.

9) java.nio.BufferOverflow exception thrown for UTF-16BE data coding type.

For the UTF-16BE data coding type set, when a message is sent, a BufferOverflow exception is generated.

APAR LI72474
