Web Project wizard common task steps

Procedure

  1. In the Enterprise Explorer view, right-click and select New > Web Project.
  2. In the Name field, enter a name for your new web project.
  3. In the Programming Model section, specify one of the following programming models to use when creating your project:
    • To develop your web application using only Javascript, HTML, Dojo, and CSS, click Client-side only (HTML, JavaScript). Server-side programming is not available with this option.
    • To use Java™ EE technologies such as Servlets, JSPs, or JPA to develop your web application, click Java EE.
  4. In the Programming Model section, specify one of the following programming models to use when creating your project:
    • To use Java EE technologies such as Servlets, JSPs, or JPA to develop your web application, click Java EE.
    • To use Java EE technologies such as Servlets and JPA within the OSGi programming model, click OSGi.
  5. In the Programming Model section, specify one of the following programming models to use when creating your project:
    • To develop your web application using only Javascript, HTML, Dojo, and CSS, click Client-side only (HTML, JavaScript). Server-side programming is not available with this option.
    • To use Java EE technologies such as Servlets, JSPs, or JPA to develop your web application, click Java EE.
    • To use Java EE technologies such as Servlets and JPA within the OSGi programming model, click OSGi.
  6. In the Programming Model section, click Java EE to use the Java EE programming model when creating your project.
  7. In the Programming Model section, click Client-side only (HTML, JavaScript,...) to use the Client-side only programming model when creating your project.
  8. To configure your new web project, click Next. The available configuration options depend on the programming model you selected.
  9. Click Next to configure your new web project.
  10. From the list of available configuration options, click Deployment.
    Note: This option is available only if you selected to use the Java EE programming model for your new web project.
  11. From the list of available configuration options, click Deployment.
  12. From the list of available configuration options, click Deployment.
  13. From the list of available configuration options, click Dojo Toolkit.
  14. From the Target Runtime list, select the run time to use at build time to compile your new web project.
    Note: If the target run time was previously set, this list is not available. Complete one of the following steps to make this list available:
    • Specify a new EAR project name and then select a target run time.
    • Select an existing EAR project from the list that uses the target run time that you want to use.
  15. Click Change Features.
  16. Click Finish to create your web project.
