OLT Preferences - Display settings

The settings on this page determine the appearance of the trace.

Extended trace line
By default, trace lines do not extend to the right of an exit event, or to the left of a start event. On a large screen it may be difficult for you to visually match a trace with its scroll-arrows. In that case, you can set extended trace lines, which extends every trace line across the screen, and changes dashed sections to solid.

Trace line orientation
By default, trace lines run horizontally across the viewer window, with time advancing from left to right. You can change to a vertical orientation to have time advance from top to bottom. With vertical orientation, the trace names are not shown on the screen.

Display style
The OLT viewer normally maintains a minimum spacing between events to prevent overlap of symbols and connecting lines. You can suppress this feature to obtain a highly compressed view. Once you have selected Compress display, you can customize the scale of the trace by setting the number of pixels between event symbols.

Real time
The OLT viewer uses partial-order display by default. Partial order respects causal relationships between events, but does not necessarily show events in chronological order. When you select Display real time, the trace refreshes to show a time scale. Events are drawn along the scale as they actually occurred. You can set the distance between events by changing the number of microseconds per pixel.

To revert back to a normal display from real-time mode or a compressed display, select Normal display.

Performance analysis
When you enable performance analysis, all parts of the trace lines representing periods of time between consecutive events longer than a certain time interval are highlighted (red by default). You can change the time interval by entering a new value on this page. You can change the highlighting color on the Colors page.
