7.1a: Setting up a multinode administrative database
To set up the server machine for a multinode administrative database:
- Install the DB2 server.
- Install WebSphere Application Server.
- Start the WebSphere Application Server administrative server and client.
To set up the agent machine for a multinode administrative database:
- Install the DB2 client.
- Click Start > Programs > IBM DB2 > Client Configuration Assistant.
- Select the WebSphere Applicaion Server database.
- Click Delete.
- Click OK.
- Click Add.
- Add the database wizard.
- Select Manually configure a connecton to a database.
- Click Next.
- Select TCP/IP.
- Click Next.
- In the Hostname field type smfvtM (this is the hostname of the server machine).
- In the Port number field type 50000 (this number is taken from the directory
WinNT/system32/drivers/etc/services of the server machine).
- In the Service name field type the service name from the DB2 services file.
- Click Next.
- In the Database name field type was.
- Click Next.
- Select Configure node options. The node options are:
- System name: smfvt1 (hostname of the server machine)
- Instance name: db2cDB2 (the service name)
- Operating System: NT
- Click Next.
- Select Configure security options. Under security options select Use authentication value specified in the server's DBM
configuration.
- Click Finish.
- Click Test Connection.
- For your user ID and password use the user ID and password of the server machine.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click Done.
- Install WebSphere Application Server with the remote database at the Database Options screen. Use the server machine
user ID and password, database name of server and the path to the client machine database.
- Start the WebSphere Application Server administrative server from the client machine.
- Refresh the administrative client to make sure the two nodes appear.
