Change Text File dialog box

The behavior of the Change Text File dialog box changes depending on the platform running the program you are debugging. Select the appropriate platform:

Change Text File dialog box

Use the Change Text File dialog box to display a different source file in the Source pane.

Sometimes the debugger locates the incorrect source file for your program. For example, if you have moved your source code to the workstation and have files with the same name in different directories, the debugger will locate the file in the first directory specified in workstation environment variable DER_DBG_PATH. The Change Text File dialog box allows you to specify the correct source file and directory.

Controls and control groupings are described below. Group and subgroup names appear in italics, and control names appear in bold.

Enter the name of the overriding file Enter the path and name of the desired source file.
Push buttons
OK Loads the source file you specified and closes the Change Text File dialog box.
Browse Opens a file-selection window so you can locate the source file you want. The Browse window lists files residing on the workstation only or files that are accessible through a mapped network drive.
Cancel Closes the Change Text File dialog box without changing the source file in the Source pane.
Help Displays this help panel.

Note: The Change Text File dialog box does not open a new Source pane or change the executable being debugged. If you enter the wrong file name, you may still be able to set breakpoints, issue step commands, and see the debugger moving the current line. However, the debugger's behavior is related to the current object file, not to the current source file, and so this behavior may seem out of sync with the source file.

If you want to debug a different object file within the same program, select Source > Open New Source instead. Choose File > Load Program to start debugging another program.

Use the Change Text File dialog box to display a different source file in the Source pane while you are using the Source view. This capability may be useful when your source is out of sync with your module or Java class. The Change Text File dialog box allows you to specify the location of the up-to-date source file on your workstation.
