VisualAge C++ Help for Help

Overview
VisualAge C++ information is structured to help you accomplish what you need to do when you need to do it.

We provide you with three main kinds of information:

You can get to this information from our Help Home Page, the product Help Menu or from the Navigation heading.

We've also provided supplementary information:

Detailed Help: Topics and Links
Our help is in HTML format, so if you've browsed the World Wide Web, you already know how to use it effectively.

Hypertext links appear highlighted and underlined in blue (depending on your HTML browser). Visited links appear in purple.

When you work in the VisualAge C++ IDE, you can launch reference help on any IBM Open Class object. Right-click on the class or function, then select Reference Help in the context menu. You'll launch the appropriate class description file in your system browser. In any class description file, choose the View Class icon to see all of the class information, and select the View Globals icon to see complete Global Enumerations information.

You can copy-and-paste code examples right into your own projects. Use your browser's forward and back controls to flip between help pages.

Navigate through a hierarchy of topics by selecting Concepts, Tasks, or Reference information. Just follow the links to get to the topic you want, and then select that link. There are also links on the information Home page and on the banner at the top of each document.

Get to the References you need when you work. Links in the body of the text always take you to the Reference information highlighted. So if you need more information about a certain programming structure, it's only a click away.

Find similar information quickly. Related topics links--at the end of each information section--move you through the help information. We've divided these links into Concepts, Tasks, and References so that you know what kind of information you're getting before you click on a link.

Search for any word or group of words in the entire set of VisualAge Help information.

You can also make a search request that only returns certain kinds of information, such as Examples or Tasks. In addition, you can keep your searches simple, or use the full power of an advanced search engine with boolean searches, wildcards and fuzzy or exact term matching.

Note that you can also search through user-interface help (F1) help from the search page, though this is turned off by default. When you return these F1 results, you'll see the F1 banner inside the information frameset. If you click on this F1 banner while searching, the HTML frameset will be refreshed, and you'll go back to the Home Page, the Glossary page, Search or the VisualAge C++ WWW page.

Get to VisualAge C++ on the Web by clicking on the VisualAge C++ icon in the navigation banner (if you have a connection to the internet).
