Use this command to change the maximum number of captures allowed for each
tape control unit, tape channel path, and DASD channel path.
Requirements and Restrictions
- You can change the capture maximums for a processor only if the capture
and restore working keypoint for that processor is initialized.
Otherwise, an OPR-041500 dump occurs.
- The maximum number of captures for each DASD control unit is always
1. You cannot change this value.
Format
- CPU-id
- changes the capture maximums for a specific processor, where id
is the 1-character alphanumeric CPU ID of the processor.
- ALL
- changes the capture maximums for all the processors.
- TAPECU
- specifies the maximum number of captures allowed for each tape control
unit.
- DASDCU
- specifies the maximum number of captures allowed for each direct access
storage device (DASD) control unit.
- DASDCH
- specifies the maximum number of captures allowed for each DASD channel
path.
- TAPECH
- specifies the maximum number of captures allowed for each tape channel
path.
- max
- is a decimal number from 1-255 that specifies the new capture
maximum.
Additional Information
- You can change the capture maximums for both active and inactive
processors.
- If you do not specify the CPU or ALL parameter, the capture maximums are
changed for the current processor.
- The CPU and ALL parameters are ignored if the system is not generated for
loosely coupled support.
- Enter the ZFCAP DISPLAY command to display the current capture
maximums.
- For DASD subsystems that are identified by subsystem ID (SSID), a DASD
control unit represents all devices that are associated with that SSID.
- The ZFCAP CLEAR and ZFRST CLEAR commands reset the capture maximums to the
default values defined in the master copy of the capture and restore working
keypoint.
Examples
The maximum number of captures allowed for each tape control unit is
changed for the current processor in the following example.
+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
User: ZFCAP CHANGE TAPECU-3

System: FCAP0155I 10.46.45 COMPLETED

The capture maximums are changed for all the processors in the following
example.
+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
User: ZFCAP CHANGE ALL TAPECU-3 TAPECH-2 DASDCH-2

System: FCAP0155I 08.48.11 COMPLETED
