Prospect® 8.0.6 P7 (8.0.6.7)

Prospect® 8.0.6 P7 is a patch release for Prospect. It is a cumulative release and can be applied on Prospect 8.0.6, Prospect 8.0.6 P1 patch, Prospect 8.0.6 P3 patch, Prospect 8.0.6 P4, Prospect 8.0.6 P5 or Prospect 8.0.6 P6 patch in order to bring a system up to the 8.0.6 P7 release point.

Check you have installed on your system one of the versions required as prerequisite, by running the show_installed command.
Note that 8.0.6 release is displayed as 8.0.6.0, 8.0.6 P1 patch as 8.0.6.1, 8.0.6 P3 patch as 8.0.6.3, 8.0.6 P4 patch as 8.0.6.4, 8.0.6 P5 patch as 8.0.6.5, and 8.0.6 P6 as 8.0.6.6.

This patch introduces the solutions for APARs IZ69152, IZ66808, IZ70712, IZ67674.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

• Before downloading or installing 8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007, Prospect Core 8.0.6 must be installed.
• Ensure that you have sufficient file system free space to download, extract and install the patch.
Network Timeouts
If your system has a security policy in place such that a session is disconnected after a lengthy period of apparent inactivity, you should disable it during this upgrade. There is the possibility that an upgrade can take a while to run. Since no user input is required during the most of the upgrade, this can make the upgrade session appear idle. If timeouts are not disabled, the upgrade terminal could be disconnected during the upgrade.

Known Issues


Tablespace usage

It is necessary to have at least 10% free in the TRAFFIC tablespace. To check tablespace usage run the following command;


healthcheck -e db_tablespace       (Note the TEMP tablespace is not checked)


• Returns WARN is any tablespace has less than 10% free disk space.
• Returns FAIL if any tablespace has less than 5% free disk space.
Problems may be resolved by either reducing the amount of data stored in the database or increasing the size of the tablespace.
See page 138 in the Prospect® 8.0.6 Administration Guide. for instructions on increasing tablespace if necessary.

Installing the Prospect Server

This section explains how to install the 8.0.6 P7 Prospect Server
Pre-Install Procedure
1. Login as flexpm and verify $FLEXPM_HOME is set.

      $ echo $FLEXPM_HOME 

   If there are multiple Prospect installations on the server, source the .profile for the Prospect installation for which this patch should be applied.


2. Copy 8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007-server.tar.gz into $FLEXPM_HOME.


3. Uncompress the file.

      $ gunzip  8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007-server.tar.gz 

4. Untar the package. It will create a subdirectory (patches/Core8.0.6_P7) in $FLEXPM_HOME and untar the files in to this directory.

      $ gtar -xvpf  8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007-server.tar 

5. Install the Patch by following the instructions below

Important: If there are no errors from the Pre-Install Procedure, then continue with the following steps:


1. Login as flexpm and verify $FLEXPM_HOME is set.

      $ echo $FLEXPM_HOME 

   If there are multiple Prospect installations on the server, source the .profile for the Prospect installation for which this patch should be applied.


2. Go to $FLEXPM_HOME/patches/Core8.0.6_P7 directory.

      $ cd $FLEXPM_HOME/patches/Core8.0.6_P7

3. If Prospect Web is accessing this Prospect installation, then use the admin tool to disable the corresponding datasource.


4. Install the patch.

      $ install.sh -install 2>&1| tee install.log

Note: the patch installation program will automatically stop the middleware, install the patch files, and restart the middleware.

Post-Installation Instructions

Resource the Profile

If you have not done so already, log off and log on as flexpm.

Re-enable the datasource in Prospect Web

Once the installation has completed, re-enable the datasource in Prospect Web (if you disabled it before starting the patch installation)

Scenario Update scripts introduced in 8.0.6 P6

The solution to APAR IZ50472 is the addition of new Administrator scripts that can be used to add new instances into the scenario directly. Very large scenarios should be updated using these Scenario Update scripts which can be run from the Command line rather than using the Classic Client front end. However the Classic Client should still be used to update smaller ones. There are also scripts to backup a scenario before performing the update and a script to subsequently restore this backed up scenario if required.

The following three scripts are provided:

• updateScenario.sh : use to add instances to a scenario
• backupScenario.sh : use to backup scenario definition to a file
• restoreScenario.sh : use to restore a backed up scenario

These are described below:

• updateScenario.sh
  Use this script to add an instance to a scenario.

  Usage:

  updateScenario.sh  -k fullkey -e entity -s scenario -f folder [-link] [-v]
  
  Option	Description
  -k	The full key of the instance to add to the scenario
  -e	The entity name of the instance to be added
  -s	The name of the scenario to add to. The scenario name used in the scripts cannot contain spaces. 
  -f	The name of the folder where the scenario resides
  -link	Optional – include this if the instance is to be linked
  -v	Prints Usage Message
  

  Example:

  updateScenario.sh -k 117-2 -e MSC -s USER-SCEN-1 -f '\Scenarios' -link
  

• backupScenario.sh

  Use this script to backup scenario definition to a file Usage:

  backupScenario.sh  -f  folder -s scenario [-v]
  

  The script saves the specified Scenario in a comma delimited file named _YYYYMMDDHHMMSS.bkp in the /tmp directory. Option Description -f The name of the folder where the scenario resides -s The name of the scenario to backup -v Prints Usage Message
  Example:

  backupScenario.sh -f '\Scenarios' -s USER-SCEN-1
  

• restoreScenario.sh
  Use this script to restore a backed up scenario from a file Usage:

  restoreScenario.sh  -f  filename [-v]
  

  Option Description -f The name of the file containing the scenario to Restore -v Prints Usage Message Example:

  restoreScenario.sh -f USER-SCEN-1_20091215142233.bkp

Installing the Prospect Client

This new client version, 8.0.6.7, fixes the APARS listed in the List of Fixes below.

Installation Instructions

1. Copy 8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007-client.zip on your Windows system in a temporary directory.
2. Unzip 8.0.6-PROSPECT-IF0007-client.zip.
3. Go to the directory where you unzipped the file and run setup.exe
The installer creates the necessary system and application files, updates the system’s registry, and adds entries to Windows START menu.

Uninstall Procedure

To uninstall the Prospect client, use the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS component of the Windows Control Panel.
