Auxiliary Storage Pool Attributes

Use the i5/OS Auxiliary Storage Pool (ASP) attributes to monitor the status and details for the basic and independent ASPs. The attributes are returned for both active and inactive independent ASPs. i5/OS Auxiliary Storage Pool attributes are sampled attributes in the operational areas of storage and configuration.

Capacity Specifies the total space, in Megabytes, on the storage media allocated to the ASP. A varied-off independent ASP could have 0 in this field if the system cannot determine what disk units are assigned to the ASP.

Name Specifies the name which the user has assigned to this ASP. Only independent ASPs have names assigned so blanks are returned for basic ASPs. This is an alphanumeric string with up to 10 characters.

Number The unique number that identifies the auxiliary storage pool. The ASP number may have a value from 1 through 255. A value of 1 indicates the system ASP. A value of 2 through 32 indicates a basic user ASP. Independent user ASPs have a value of 33 through 255.

Number of Disk Units The number of configured disk units logically addressable by the system as units for this ASP. This is the number of configured, non-mirrored units plus the number of mirrored pairs allocated to the ASP.

ORIGINNODE The host name for the monitored system. Valid entries are alphanumeric strings with a maximum length of 64 characters.

Overflow Storage Indicates the number of bytes, in Megabytes, of auxiliary storage that have overflowed from a basic ASP into the system ASP. This number will be one or greater if any bytes have overflowed.

Protected Capacity Specifies the total number of bytes, in Megabytes, of auxiliary storage that is protected by mirroring or device parity in the ASP. A varied-off independent ASP could have zero in this field if the system cannot determine what disk units are assigned to the ASP.

Protected Used Percent The percentage of protected capacity that is currently used for objects or internal machine functions. If the protected capacity is zero then the used percent value will be also be zero.

Status The status of the ASP. Basic ASPs are always varied on. Valid values are:

System Storage Percent Specifies the percent of capacity that is currently allocated to system storage.

Type The type of ASP. Valid values are:

Unprotected Capacity Specifies the total number of bytes, in Megabytes, of auxiliary storage that is not protected by mirroring or device parity in the ASP. A varied-off independent ASP could have 0 in this field if the system cannot determine what disk units are assigned to the ASP.

Unprotected Used Percent The percentage of unprotected capacity that is currently used for objects or internal machine functions. If the unprotected capacity is zero then the used percent value will be also be zero.

Utilization Percent The percentage of total capacity that is currently used for objects or internal machine functions. If the capacity is zero then the used percent value will be also be zero.
