The Point of Sale (POS) Printer Panel allows the user to test the POS Printer device connected to the system. When the user clicks the POS Printer Button, the Diagnostics opens the POS Printer and displays a variety of tests depending on the printer attached. The information below describes all the possible POS Printer tests, although the specific tests provided to the user may be a subset of those described here.
Testing the POS Printer
- Receipt Station - The Receipt Station test sends a command to the POS Printer to print a sequence of characters to the Receipt Station. The test checks to make sure the cover is closed and paper is present in the receipt station at the beginning of the test.
- Head Movement - The Head Movement test verifies the functionality of the printer head. If the Slip Station cover is open, the head doesn't move properly, or if any other problems occur during the execution of this test, the user is given an error indicating problems with the printer head.
- Impact Station - The Impact Station test is similar to the receipt station test, except for the Slip/Impact Station. This test accepts a check or similar sized paper, and prints a sequence of characters to the Slip/Impact Station.
- Checks 21 - Checks 21 allows the user to scan a check, then either display it to the screen or print it to the receipt station. This test verifies the ability of the TI8/TI9 to successfully scan checks.
- Test Scanner - This function is similar to the Checks 21 function, but this one simply scans a check and prints it out directly to the reciept station.
- Printer Statistics - This button provides device statistics for the POS Printer and its associated MICR and Check Scanner. The statistics provides information about the printer type, manufacturer, firmware level, number of line feeds, and much more information.
- Test All - This button simply runs throught the tests that are available to the user, with the exception of the Printer Statistics and the Checks 21 tests.
