Instrumenting a local application server
To instrument a local server:
- Click Instrument Local Server.
- On the Application Server page, select the server type from the Type list.
- In the Server name field, type a name for the server instance to
configure. Servers can be configured to run multiple instances simultaneously
(possibly running different applications), each of which is given a name. You must
configure each server instance separately.
- In the Server home field, type the path to the server program
directory in the file system (for example, c:\servers\was-7.0). For WebLogic Application Server,
the Server home is the parent directory of the bin and config directories for the server being instrumented.
- If you selected WebSphere Application Server, you must also specify a Profile name and Node name.
- If you selected WebLogic Application Server, you must also specify the following
settings:
- Start script
- Server JVM
Consult the WebLogic Application Server documentation for details about these settings.
After instrumenting the server, the tool attempts to restart the server automatically. If the tool is unable to restart the server, you are notified that you must restart the server manually.
