Specify the location in which to create a release area for your product installation.
Specify a path name for your installation release area. It is preferable to specify a UNC share path, for network-wide use. You can create directories locally or on shares (with proper permissions) with the Site Preparation Tool. However, you cannot create a share on a remote system. The shared directory must already exist and be shared across the network. You can use the Site Preparation Tool to create subdirectories of the shared directory.
The Site Preparation Tool attempts to validate the release area location and site defaults file name you specify. If a directory does not exist, the Site Preparation Tool attempts to create it. If you enter a local directory path, the Site Preparation Tool will attempt to locate a shared directory that can be used (either the directory itself, or a parent directory). If a shared directory can not be located, warning message is issued that the shortcut could not be created due to no UNC paths being available.
In the Path to the release area (required): field, use the Browse button to navigate to the release area in the Windows Network Neighborhood directory tree.
In the Site Defaults file name (required): field, enter the name of the site defaults file that you want to use in the network share.
