The IBM® Packaging Utility program is compatible with Eclipse-based products such as IBM Rational® Software Architect. You can use this utility to perform the following tasks:
- Generate a new repository for packages
- Copy packages to a new repository
- Delete packages that are no longer needed.
For example, you can use the utility to create a new repository based on two products; then, you can host the repository on a Web server for access by your entire enterprise.
1.1 New in this release
Handling of local repositories has changed to support browsing to a file in addition to a directory. The supported files are repository.config, diskTag.inf, *.jar, and *.zip. You must browse to the repository.config file in a directory to open the directory repository, or browse to the diskTag.inf file of a disk image to open a repository of extracted disk images. Entering the string of a directory for a directory repository continues to be supported; it is not possible to browse to create this string, so automation will continue to work without changes.

This section describes known limitations and problems specific to this fix pack, and any workarounds that are available.
The product Installation Guide documents incorrect installation instructions for IBM Packaging Utility; use the following instructions instead:Installing Packaging Utility
IBM Packaging Utility is installed using IBM Installation Manager from a repository containing IBM Packaging Utility.
To install IBM Packaging Utility from the Auxiliary CD, complete the following steps:
On Windows®:
- Go to the Aux_CD_Win/PackagingUtility folder in the Auxiliary CD.
- Start install_win32.exe. Packaging Utility will show up in IBM Installation Manager ready for installation.
- Follow the instructions in Installation Manager to complete the installation of IBM Packaging Utility.
On Linux®:
- Go to the Aux_CD_Lin/PackagingUtility directory in the Auxiliary CD.
- Start install_linux.bin. Packaging Utility will show up in IBM Installation Manager ready for installation.
- Follow the instructions in Installation Manager to complete the installation of IBM Packaging Utility.
The string ".map." in a filename can cause the Apache Web server to perform a translation on the file contents before sending to the client. For example, for Apache 2.2 this can happen by adding the line into an .htaccess file in a directory served.:AddHandler imap-file mapThe default configuration for some Apache installations is for AddHandler to be applied generally. As a workaround, comment out the "AddHandler imap-file map" line in the configuration files that affect the repositories used by IBM Installation Manager and IBM Packaging Utility.
This incorrect configuration will cause of an error message that looks like this:

Table of contents digests differs from digest of downloaded file.
