Before using IBM® Installation Manager to
install or update packages, you can set preferences that control the
characteristics of your environment. To set these preferences, click File > Preferences.
Repository preferences
A repository is a location that stores data for installing,
modifying, rolling back, updating, or uninstalling packages. Add,
edit, or remove repositories and modify the repository order in the
repository table.
Setting rollback preferences
Use the rollback feature to revert to a previous version
of an updated package. Some packages do not support rollback.
Help preference
Specify how the help, search, and context sensitive help
windows display information. Set the help preferences by clicking File > Preferences > Help in IBM Installation Manager.
Setting help content preferences
If the product you are installing is enabled to access
remote help, a network administrator can provide help content to users
from an intranet server. By creating a connection to the remote help
to the intranet server, you can update the help to offer users the
latest help content between releases, free up disk space on users'
computers, and get additional information that may not get installed
with the product.
Internet preferences
Proxy servers enable connections to remote servers from
behind a firewall.
