When Installation Manager is installed on a machine, it checks for newer versions of Installation Manager. You can use the preference Search for Installation Manager updates to enable or disable Installation Manager from searching for updates. When this preference is checked, Installation Manager searches for updates to itself. When this preference is cleared, Installation Manager does not search for updates to itself. This preference is cleared by default.
The preferences Search service repositories during installation and updates and Search for Installation Manager updates determine what updates are search for by Installation Manager.
