IBM® Installation
Manager is a program that helps you install, import, update, modify,
and uninstall packages on your computer. A package can be a group
of components or a single component that is specifically designed
for Installation Manager to install.
Installation Manager is an installation management tool that offers
a number of time-saving features. Using Installation Manager, you
can:
- keep track of packages you are about to install
- check which packages you have already installed
- learn about packages available for installation
- search for updates, so that you know that you are installing the
latest version of a package.
- update and modify packages that you have installed
- import existing packages that were installed using installation
tools other than Installation Manager
- uninstall packages, or roll back to a previous version
Installation Manager also provides tools for managing licenses
for the packages that it installs as well as for updating and modifying
packages.
Note: Release notes, also called the readme file, cover release-specific
information, such as problems and limitations, that became available
after the product documentation was finalized. Read the release notes
to learn more about the latest version of Installation Manager.
