Introduction to IBM Installation Manager

IBM® Installation Manager is a program that helps you install, update, modify, and uninstall packages on your computer.

Installation Manager is an installation management tool that offers a number of time-saving features. It helps keep track of what you are about to install, as well as what you have already installed, and what is available for installation. It searches for updates, so that you know that you are installing the latest version of a package. Installation Manager also provides tools for managing licenses for the packages that it installs, and for updating and modifying packages. It can also uninstall full packages, or roll back packages to previous versions.

Note: Release notes, also called the readme file, cover release-specific information, such as problems and limitations, that became available after the product documentation was finalized. You can read release notes to learn more about a product and what is available in the latest version of the product.

To access the release notes, for Windows®, click Start > Programs > IBM Installation Manager, and then click Release Notes. For Linux®, go to the documentation directory in your product installation location, and open the file, readme.html.
