Configuring named-user floating licenses

For certain IBM Rational® products, you might configure named-user floating licenses.

About this task

A named-user floating license performs like a floating license except that you assign a user ID to each license in the options file rational.opt. The options file locks the floating license to the user; allowing the user to run IBM Rational Purify®, IBM Rational Quantify®, or IBM Rational PureCoverage® on multiple systems.

To configure named-user floating licenses:

  1. When you enter the license key or import the license key file, the Edit Options File window opens.
  2. To edit the file:
    1. The options file automatically opens in a text editor. Follow the instructions in the file for the correct syntax.
    2. Save your edits. Then close the file.
Results
Note: You can edit the options file while the license server is running, but you must restart the license server after saving and closing the file.
