The APA Plug-in is included with the Problem Determination Tools (PD Tools) Studio or Problem Determination Tools Plug-in zip files which can be downloaded from the IBM Problem Determination Tools download website. Follow the installation instructions of the download file and select the APA plug-in from the PD Tools plug-ins list during installation.
A Connection and Credential are required to logon to z/OS and connect to the APA remote repository. APA is automatically connected when a PD Tools connection is established. Follow the instructions in the IBM Problem Determination Tools for z/OS Common section of the desktop Help for details to configure and launch a Problem Determination Tools connection.
Once the connection is established, a list of active APA Started Tasks (STC's) is displayed. The first STC is assigned as the default which will be selected at the startup of APA. The default STC is saved as a preference that can be changed from the "Set as Default STC" context menu item of the STC List view.
Application Performance Analyzer will then populate the Observations List.
