You use the New Configuration wizard
to create a CM configuration. In the wizard, you identify the CSD
file or the CICSPlex SM context that contains the resource definitions,
and then create the configuration. You can then use the Configuration
editor to edit the new, or an existing configuration.
About this task
You can choose to create a configuration from scratch and
add resource definitions later. Alternatively, you can create a configuration
that is based on an existing configuration, in which case the details,
consisting of the description, connections, and transformation variables
in the existing configuration are copied to the new configuration.
Procedure
- Open the New Configuration wizard
by using one of the following methods:
- To create a configuration from scratch, right-click anywhere
in the Configurations view and click New
> Configuration. Alternatively, click File
> New > Other on the menu bar. In the New wizard,
expand the CICS Configuration Manager folder and click Configuration,
and then click Finish.
- To create a configuration that is based on an existing configuration,
right-click the existing configuration in the Configurations view
and click New from.
- Provide a name and description for the new configuration.
Note: If you are creating a configuration that is based
on an existing configuration, you provide only a new name. The remaining
fields are copied from the existing configuration.
- Complete the remaining fields in the wizard. Select the
radio button corresponding to the type of repository:
- CICSPlex SM Context
- The name of the CPLEXDEF definition name in the CICSPlex SM environment.
- CICS System Definition
- The name of the CICS System Definition (CSD) file. The name must
be entered as a fully qualified data set name.
- RLS Access (CSD only)
- Define how to access the CSD. The options are DYNAMIC, NOTRLS,
or RLS.
- By default, when you click Finish,
the new configuration opens in the Configuration editor. You can clear
the Open Editor checkbox if you don't want
the editor to open. Click Finish.
Results
The configuration is created. If the
Open editor check
box was selected, the configuration is opened in the editor. If the
check box was not selected you can edit the configuration at a later
time.
