JR09230: This directory contains the updates for APAR fix JR09230 to a code server. The following problems with the TN3270E function of Communications Server 4.0 have been resolved by this APAR: 1. Unable to sign on to CICS appl through TN3270E Server. for PCOM4.0, the CLEAR key must be entered twice before things work. For PCOM4.1, the client hangs as soon as the application name is entered. 2. PROG750 on PCOM4.1 client connecting through TN3270E Server. When a PCOM4.1 client signs on to a CICS application, a PROG750 occurs at various times. 3. Unable to print CICS application form using TN3270E Server. The TN3270E Server is unnecessarily generating positive responses to the host when the host specified exception- response only on the request. This protocol error causes the session to be unbound and interrupts the printing of the form. 4. PCOM4.0 Printer 1646 Client causes TN3270E Server to TRAP. 5. TN3270E Server is not traversing the LUA list correctly to find a useable LUA. When a client connects in and asks for an implicit LU, the server traverses its LU list to find the first one that is available; however if another application is using that LUA or the LU is not active, the server should go to the next LU in the list and try again. The server was not doing this. If the LU is unavailable, the same LU is tried over and over again until the connection times out. From the client's perspective, he never receives any data to indicate that a connection has established and may time out. 6. CMSETUP issues SYS0317 indicating that MSG 1028 cannot be found in APN.MSG. NOTE: This APAR can ONLY be applied to the English version of Communications Server Version 4. WR20636 (via WR20636C) and JR09141 (via JR09141C) must have been previously applied to a code server. See WR20636C.TXT in ftp://ps.software.ibm.com/ps/products/cm2/fixes/v4server/wr20636C and JR09141C.TXT in ftp://ps.software.ibm.com/ps/products/cm2/fixes/v4server/JR09141C. In order to install and configure the new functions of Communications Server, a code server is needed. A code server is basically a directory that is accessible to a workstation that will be installing Communications Server. The directory can be either local or available using a LAN. Create a code server for Communications Server per the instructions in the WR20636C.TXT file, for example Q:\COMMSVR\CODE. How to install the Communications Server APAR JR09230 to a code server using updates from the Internet. 1. Download APAR JR09230 from the JR09230C directory on ftp://ps.software.ibm.com/ps/products/cm2/fixes/v4server to a local directory such as CSTEMP. Note that, JR09230C contains the files tailored for application to a code server. JR09230 contains files tailored for application by CMFIX. DO NOT attempt to use CMFIX to apply JR09230C or attempt to use JR09230 to update a code server; the two are not interchangable. 2. Use XCOPY to copy the files from CSTEMP into your code server directory. For example, in the \CSTEMP directory, issue: XCOPY *.* Q:\COMMSVR\CODE /s The code server is now updated. This code server should be used as the source for all updates to a Communications Server installation. For example, if you configure a feature after the initial installation, when prompted for the location of the Communications Server files, point to the code server. Configuring the new TN3270E Server and applying JR09230: 1. In the code server directory, issue CMSETUP. For example, Q:\COMMSVR\CODE\CMSETUP. When prompted on the "Refresh Product Files" window, choose "REINSTALL" to allow the fixes to be appiled. 2. Choose the SETUP push button, from the CMSETUP window. Select TN3270E from the menu bar of the Communications Manager Configuration Definition window. Thanks for using the TN3270E Server of Communications Server! Last update 8/27/96 RHB
