If you cannot narrow the scope of your search sufficiently using
a search list, you can use the Quick Menu to select a topic or
topic group to search.
About this task
To carry out searches in this way:
Procedure
- In the Contents pane, expand the navigation tree
until you see the topic or topic group where you
want to search.
- Hover over the title of the topic or topic group,
and click the round button that appears next to the
title to open the Quick Menu.
- Select
Search this topic
to limit the search scope to a single topic, or
Search this topic and subtopics
to limit the search scope to a topic group.
A pop-up search window appears.
- Enter your search query in the pop-up search window
and click the
OK
button.
If you are searching in a single topic, the search
terms are highlighted in the displayed topic. If you
are searching in a topic group, the topics
containing the search terms are listed in the
Contents pane.
- You can use the pop-up search window to carry out
further searches with the same search scope. You can
also return to the Contents pane by selecting the
Contents tab (
), and use the Quick Menu to choose a different
search scope for the window.
Results
A search scope that you choose using the Quick Menu cannot
be saved for future use, and it only applies to searches
made in the pop-up search window. Searches made using the
Search
field in the main browser window continue to use the search
list shown at the top of the help browser, next to the
Search scope
link.
