This book is about:
- Multiregion operation (MRO): communication between CICS® systems in
the same operating system, or in the same MVS™ sysplex, without the use of IBM® Systems Network
Architecture (SNA) networking facilities.1
- Intersystem communication (ISC): communication between an IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS® system
and other systems or terminals that support the logical unit type 6.1 or logical
unit type 6.2 protocols of SNA. Logical unit type 6.2 protocols are also known
as Advanced Program-to-Program Communication (APPC).
The external CICS interface (EXCI)
uses a specialized form of MRO link to support: communication between MVS batch
programs and CICS; DCE remote procedure calls to CICS programs.
