Intercommunication and XRF

For further information about the extended recovery facility (XRF) of CICS® Transaction Server for z/OS®, see the CICS/ESA 3.3 CICS XRF Guide. This section looks at those aspects of XRF that apply to ISC and MRO sessions. For more details of the link definitions mentioned in this section, refer to Defining links to remote systems.

MRO and ISC sessions are not XRF-capable because they cannot have backup sessions to the alternate CICS system.

You can use the AUTOCONNECT option in your link definitions to cause CICS to try to reestablish the sessions following a takeover by the alternate CICS system.

Also, the bound or unbound status of some ISC session types can be tracked. In these cases, CICS can try to reacquire bound sessions irrespective of the AUTOCONNECT specification.

In all cases, the timing of the attempt to reestablish sessions is controlled by the AUTCONN system initialization parameter. For information about system initialization parameters, see the CICS System Definition Guide.
