CICS® Transaction
Gateway supports client applications running in local or remote mode
topologies. Client applications enable access to CICS server transactions and programs from the
host machine.
The following figure shows both Java™ and non-Java client applications running
in both local and remote mode on a UNIX, Linux or Windows System.

Notes:- Java client applications
use the Gateway classes to communicate with CICS servers.
- JCA client applications use the JEE CICS resource
adapters to communicate with CICS servers.
- C client applications running in remote mode
use the ECI V2 and ESI V2 C language bindings to communicate with CICS servers.
- C client applications running in local mode use
the ECI V1, ESI V1 and EPI C language bindings to communicate with CICS servers.
