Each sample program is in a subdirectory of the <install_path>/samples/cobol
directory.
On Windows,
the sample programs can be built using the supplied command files.
For example, to build the basic ECI sample ecib1.cbl, use the command
ecib1cbl.cmd,
which is in the same directory as the source. Both COBOL samples can
be built using the <install_path>\samples\cobol\sampmak.cmd file
with either the
MF or
VAC parameter.
The command file uses either the Micro Focus COBOL compiler or the IBM® COBOL for Windows compiler to compile the program.
Specify the compiler to use by issuing an ecib1cbl command, for example:
ecib1cbl MF (for Micro Focus)
ecib1cbl VAC (for IBM COBOL for Windows)
If you are using
the Micro Focus COBOL compiler, refer to the comments in the COBOL
samples for information about what you need to do before you can run
them.
On UNIX and Linux, both COBOL sample programs can be built
using the Korn shell build file <install_path>/samples/cobol/sampmak.
The build file sampmak must be run from the <install_path>/samples/cobol
directory. To display the usage syntax of sampmak issue the command:
./sampmak -?
To build the COBOL sample programs you must specify the mf or ibm parameter
(the ibm parameter is supported on AIX® only). For example: sampmak
mf (for MicroFocus) or sampmak ibm (for IBM COBOL for AIX)
The source code for the ECI sample program is located in the eci
subdirectory. The source code for the EPI sample program is located
in the epi subdirectory.
