Package file: N2501E.zip Flash file name: 5_20_45.pml FLASH RELEASE 5.20.45 Release date: January 26, 2007 NOTES: 1) The flash file extension, .pml, is used by the various utilities to distinguish between the various flash file types. The file extension must not be changed. 2) Due to the increased support for LDD profiles it will now be necessary to NVRAM reset an adapter if you are downgrading from this revision to an earlier firmware level. 3) Note that pinging the adapter with large frames (over 1472 bytes) is not supported in this (and previous) firmware revision(s). There are no problems with doing a 'regular' ping command. II. KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF THE RELEASE::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: 1) Adjusted DST begin and end dates for AST, EST, CST, MST, PST, Alaska, and Newfoundland time zones to comply with 2007 DST changes. 2) Addressed a retransmission issue that could cause slower printing 3) Added translations for "No Fax Detected". 4) Add support for mixed size PDF and TIFF files. 5) Translated LDAP applet. 6) Added Printer Op-Panel Background Color Change. 7) Fixed problem with setup utility not working for misconfigured adapters 8) Changed date format for Scan cookies so settings are stored correctly 9) Fixed numerous timezones to conform with EU Directive 2000/C 337 E/18. 10) Various minor imaging tweaks. 11) Various minor fax changes. 12) Various minor bug fixes. III. LIMITATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY OF THE RELEASE::::::::::::::::::::::::: One of the following methods are required to update the MarkNet N2501e with this release of firmware flash: 1) The flash file can be sent down to the adapter via TFTP with a binary transfer. In the following examples the flash file is located in the C:\inaflash\ directory. NT server example: C:\tftp -i 157.184.29.84 PUT C:\inaflash\5_20_45.pml /dev/flash Transfer successful: 648434 bytes in 13 seconds, 19910 bytes/s OS/2 Server example: [C:\]tftp 157.184.29.84 IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 - TFTP Client ver 14:02:01 on Oct 24 1995. tftp> bin tftp> put (file) c:\inaflash\5_20_45.pml /dev/flash Sent 648434 bytes in 10.8 seconds tftp> 2) MarkVision for Windows 95 or Windows NT Version 4.80 or greater 1. In the MarkVision printer window, double-click the printer with the adapter you want to flash. 2. Click the Adapter Settings tab. 3. Click Flash Adapter. 4. Select the flash file that contains the new firmware code. 5. Click on Open and the new firmware code will be flashed to the adapter. 6. When the process is completed, you will receive notification that the flash was successful and the adapter will reset. 3) Windows 3.1 Interwin Version 5.95 or greater (Netware only) 4) MarkVision for OS2 Version 3.16 or greater 1. In the printer window locate the adapter you want to update and right-click on it. 2. Select Port and then Properties. 3. Click on Flash Adapter and then point the application to the correct file and select it to flash the adapter. 5) MarkVision for Unix Versions 3.1 through 4.1 1. Start the LEXPRT program. 2. Select the option Update adapter firmware. 3. Select single adapter. (If you want to do multiple adapters you can view the man page for UPDLEXPRT) 4. Enter the hostname(IP address) and select the flash file (include the path for the flash file). 6) Any version of MarkVision for Macintosh. 1. Highlight the adapter you want to update and click on the Update Adapter icon on the left which has a picture of a lightning bolt. 2. Locate the flash file for the adapter, highlight it, then click on Open. 3. The utility will return main screen and the firmware should be updated. OS/2 Network Printer Utility version 5.82 or greater is needed for LexLink printing using OS/2 pre-Warp utilities. IV. LEXMARK TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND ELECTRONIC SERVICES::::::::::::::::::::: The Lexmark Network Printer Utility, MarkVision, and the MarkNet family of network adapters are supported by Lexmark. These options are used to help the DHCP server automatically register with the DNS server. 3) Corrected some formatting issues related to faxing an A4 sheet of paper on large format scanners. 4) Addressed some issues that could cause the fax queue to hang. 5) Added some translations. 6) Increased the number of supported LDD profiles. 5.20.17 1) Fixed a specific fax problem affecting ECM faxes. This problem could sometimes cause fax sending to fail with an abrupt disconnect. The receiver would still receive the whole faxed page, but subsequent pages of the same fax might never be sent. 2) Tweaked fax timings slightly. This improves compatibility with more fax machines.
