DESCRIPTION OF HOW TO OBTAIN Y2K PRODUCTS AND PATCHES

This file describes how to obtain the Y2K compliant products, PTFs and patches
for the affected products.  Prior to reading this, you should have read the
files Y2KCODE.TXT, Y2KGENL.TXT, AND Y2KRM.TXT, all of which are in the Y2KINFO
directory.


Software Products
=================
There are two products that need PTF's applied to be Y2K ready.
Use normal channels to order either product and the related PTF's.
(MVS APAR PQ20729 can be downloaded from the PATCHES directory of this FTP site,
or a request can be sent to the email address at the end of this file.)

4700 Controller Microcode
=========================
The microcode is shipped on a DTR tape for installation on a host.  To obtain
a DTR tape, send a request to the email address given at the end of this file.
Provide the following information:

 - State the EC number you need (see: Y2KGENL.TXT on this FTP site for the
   correct EC number).
 - Provide the name and address of the person to ship it to.
   Note: For shipments outside the United States, an IBM address must be
         provided.  In this case, also provide the "Ship-To Code" for the
         IBM address.  (The "Ship-To Code" is a special 3-character code for
         each IBM location - if you don't know what it is, ask your local
         shipping department.)
 - Specify the kind of tape (1600/6250BPI mini-reel or 3480 cartridge).

Refer to the HOST SUPPORT USER'S GUIDE (SC31-0020) for instructions on how to
install the DTR tape and apply patches (see: 4700 Controller Microcode
Patches below).


4700 Controller Microcode Patches
=================================
Patches are available at the 4700/Patches directory on this FTP site.  Click
on the desired EC.exe file and it will be saved to disk.  Then execute the
.exe file which will cause the patches to be created on the PC's hard drive.
Upload the patches and apply them at the Host.


4700 Installation Diskette
==========================
Installation diskettes are shipped on either 5.25 or 8.0 inch diskettes.
To obtain a Y2K compliant installation diskette, send a request to the email
address given at the end of this file.  Provide the following information:

 -  Specify the controller type and model. (ie.4701-x, 4702-x)
 -  Provide the name and address of the person to ship it to.
    Note: For shipments outside the United States, an IBM address must be
          provided.  In this case, also provide the "Ship-To Code" for the
          IBM address.  (The "Ship-To Code" is a special 3-character code for
          each IBM location - if you don't know what it is, ask your local
          shipping department.)

The installation diskettes are built with the latest patch level.
