Saving options; configuration filesSaving options; configuration files
Select Save options (Options menu) to save the entire Edith configuration, including the
selected shortcut sets, and the editor/appearance settings for each of
the defined text window modes.
ORGANIZATION OF FILES WRITTEN BY SAVE OPTIONS
Save options (Options menu) will write the files listed below. It is best not to edit
these files; everything can be customized in the application panels.
Edith cannot be guaranteed to work properly after `manual tampering'
with the files, although some security has now been built in to avoid
downright crashing and report the use of invalid resource
specifications.
However, knowing what files are written and what for may help you clean
up old, unwanted configuration files.
~/.edith/options.ad
-
General editor setup (options menu), names and selection of defined
parameters for editor modes.
~/.edith/
mode.ad
-
Sub-setup for mode, where mode is the fixed, short mode
identifier (e.g.
user2
) of a text window
mode.
~/.edith/
setname.esc
-
Shortcut definitions for set setname.
~/.edith/
languagename.bsl
-
Definitions for highlighting, font panel, and bracket checking.
~/.zfc-defaults
-
Dialog panel setup (shared with other applications built with the ZF
user interface toolkit). Contains values for the panel colours that
you may wish to change.
The following file is not saved by Save options, but will be written
automatically when you exit the Edith program.
~/.edith/setup.ad
-
Info and file selector bookmarks, search parameters, last visited
directories.
The private info index is also stored here.
~/.edith/private_index.html
-
Your private index page.
