But more of a suggestion. Why do I have to switch between cds during the first install? I mean I remember installing DooM 2 from floppies on DOS and even that asked for the disks in its correct order. I stopped using FreeBSD and went to Ubuntu about 2 years ago, and I want to get back into FreeBSD. I remember having this problem back with the older distributions. Is it something that has to be done? Is it a ploy to get you to buy the DVD? Do you have hidden cameras on us and laugh at us while we sit and change out the cdrom 100 times? I am very confused. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: gavin State-Changed-When: Tue May 13 17:46:58 UTC 2008 State-Changed-Why: To submitter: Can you tell me what parts of FreeBSD you tried to install? As I understand it, the CDs have been laid out in such a way that for a base installi or one with just Xorg, no swapping is needed, and adding either KDE or Gnome should only add a couple more swaps. However, you aren't the first person to report an experience counter to this. Also, can you tell me if you were installing the i386 or the amd64 version of FreeBSD? I believe the distribution of the packages over the CDs is slightly different, so this may well have something to do with it.
