All of these versions will complete the kernel configuration and enter sysinstall. When I run 4.4 the kernel configuration hangs at " Mounting root from ufs:/dev/md0c" and will proceed no further. All conflicts are cleared and the hard drive is dangerously dedicated. It would be nice if you could mention this in your installation notes (or rework the installer for future releases), because I spent a huge amount of time in detaching and replacing my SCSI hardware with ATAPI hardware to figure out this problem. regards, Wolfram Kraushaar From: Matt Piechota To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Cc: Subject: Re: i386/31671: 4.4 installer hangs at " Mounting root from ufs:/dev/mdoc" Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2002 17:03:56 -0500 (EST) I wanted to add that I have an IBM Thinkpad 390X that has this same problem. Unfortuantely, the IBM BIOS does not have the option to Assign IRQ to USB, as is mentioned in one of the followups. We're going to try a 4.3-install disk tomorrow to see what the results are. -- Matt Piechota State-Changed-From-To: feedback->analyzed State-Changed-By: ceri State-Changed-When: Thu Aug 29 13:49:57 PDT 2002 State-Changed-Why: The situation is resolved, it just needs adding to the documentation.
