Creating a New Baseline

At regular intervals during a development project, the UCM administrator creates and recommends new baselines from the integration stream.

New recommended baselines enable individual developers to keep their development streams current with work being delivered by other team members. When team members rebase to the new baseline, their development streams remain current with the most recent stable integration points for the project.

To make and recommend a new baseline:

  1. Locate your view in Front Desk.
  2. Right-click the view and click Make Baseline.
  3. Enter a name for the baseline. By default, Rational® ClearCase® names the baseline by appending the date to the project name.
  4. Right-click the view and click Recommend Baseline. When team members rebase, the recommended baseline is always listed as the default baseline. A different baseline can be selected from the a list of available baselines.
  5. In the window, click Seed List to populate the field with the latest baseline.
  6. Click OK.
Developers can now update their work areas by rebasing their development streams from the new baseline.
