Adding an Existing Project to Source Control

You can add individual Visual Studio projects to ClearCase® source control. Visual Studio then uses Rational® ClearCase as the source control provider for your solution and enables ClearCase commands and certain GUI features (such as automatic checkout on edit).

  1. Open the Visual Studio project in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Select the root element of each project.
  3. Right-click the project then click ClearCase > Add Selected Project(s) to Source Control
Note: Do not confuse this command with the Add to Source command, which converts individual view-private files to ClearCase elements.
  4. Confirm the checkout.
Note: If you add your project to ClearCase source control outside Visual Studio (for example, in Rational ClearCase Explorer), Visual Studio does not recognize the association. To correct this condition, you must change the source control provider by editing the binding.
