Step 1: Create a source template

Rational ProjectConsole Designer Help

A source template identifies the data you want to collect. Rational ProjectConsole can extract data directly from Rational products, text files, and from vendor tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Windows File System.

To define a source template, you must provide the following information:

Source data types

You can use Rational ProjectConsole to collect two types of source data:

Source schemas

After you specify the data source type from which to collect data, Rational ProjectConsole can retrieve information from the source to help identify the source schema. Most Rational sources use a common RSE interface so that Rational ProjectConsole can browse their data structures.

Host name/data source information

To create a source template, or to modify an existing source template, you must specify the source host name, and parameter values such as the fully-qualified source file name (for Rational Rose templates, for example), or a username and password (for Rational ClearQuest templates, for example).
