The Following IBM SATA Solid State Drive options may contain drives that will be updated: SATA Options 43W7606, 43W7614 The Product ID's and the latest firmware contained in this release: Product ID Code Release SDS5C-016G-103501 1.13 SDS5C-016G-103500 1.13 1.2 Limitations The IBM SATA Solid State Drive Update Program will find the options listed above and only updates the drive firmware and VPD as needed. The update supports IBM SATA Solid State Drive options installed in IBM System x Mongoose Blade Servers. This program will terminate if no Solid State Drives are detected in your system. 1.3 Level of Recommendation * See corresponding Change History document for additional information. - A full tape backup should be completed and verified prior to running this, or any other system upgrade. - RAID configuration should be saved to a diskette, see the Hardware Maintenance Manual or Problem Determination and Service Guide for more detail. This update is not considered Critical, but is strongly recommended for all SATA solid state drives with the Product IDs listed above. 1.4 Dependencies * See corresponding Change History document for additional information. Before running the IBM SATA Solid State Drive Update Program, first update the drive controller's BIOS/Firmware to their latest levels. ___________________________ 2.0 Installation and Setup ___________________________ 2.1 Updating the Solid State Drive VPD The IBM SATA Solid State Drive Update Program will boot up and detect if your system has solid state drives. The first screen will ask if this is a dual drive unit. After entering y or n, the program will update the appropriate sSD(s) to the correct drive firmware and VPD. After the update is complete, the Mongoose blade must be powered down.
