It can also be used as a standalone executable package. To use the package with one of IBM's update management tools, follow the instructions that came with your specific management tool. 2.1 Standalone usage instructions --------------------------------- As a standalone package, this executable can be used in the following ways: - to update the SAS controller BIOS and FW on the local system - to copy all files necessary for the update to the local hard drive or other media - to create a DOS based bootable diskette that can be used to update the BIOS and FW in an offline fashion Updating the local system: 1) Type "./ibm_fw_aacraid_8k-8kl-5.2.0-15407_linux_32-64.bin -s" at a command prompt. Creating a diskette 1) Type "./ibm_fw_aacraid_8k-8kl-5.2.0-15407_linux_32-64.bin -xd ", where is the location of your diskette drive (usually /dev/fd0 for an IDE drive, or /dev/sd* for a USB drive). *CAUTION* The diskette image will be written to whatever location you specify. If you specify your boot partition, the boot information will be overwritten and your OS will be inaccessible. If you specify a data partition, your data will be lost. Ensure that you specify the diskette location. 2) Insert a blank diskette into the diskette driver when prompted, then press Enter.
