The IBM eServer BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792 Blade Server Hardware the package is installed and running on will be referred to as the "Blade Server". 1.2 Limitations No known limitations regarding the supported products with BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792. 1.3 Level recommendation and prerequisites for the update * See corresponding Change History document for additional information. 1.4 Dependencies * See corresponding Change History document for additional information. The qb-1.9.1-2 release is the initial release of the QS21 Type 0792 Blade Server Firmware. When this FW is running on a Blade Server intended as a replacement then it will prompt the user to enther the FRU information of the original Blade Server. For further information about this process refer to Chapter 2 of the "Problem Determination & Service Guide" for BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792. 2.0 Installation and setup instructions This paragraph contains an overview of the steps required to install the package. The package can only be installed using tools running on a supported Linux distribution. On a Blade Server booted to a Linux copy the package to your directory of choice. Running the package without any options or with -H,--help will print out a usage message to standard output. For more information or problem resolution refer to the - "Installation and User's Guide" for BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792 - "Problem Determination and Service Guide" for BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792 2.1 Step by step instructions for installing the package manually On a Blade Server booted to a Linux, perform the following steps: 1. run the package with the -x option. Mind that the option requires an argument containing a destination directory the Firmware image file is extracted to. The directory named as given in the argument will be newly created if it does not already exist. Absolute and relative paths will be treated corresponding to the mkdir -p command. 2. Follow the instructions in the "Updating the system firmware" section in the "Installation and User's Guide" for BladeCenter QS21 Type 0792 to install the Firmware using the extracted image file. 3.0 Configuration information N/A 4.0 Unattended mode This package is capable to be run in "unattended" mode. On a Blade Server booted to a Linux, perform the following steps: 1. run the package with the -u option. The system will shut down and reboot immediately. 2. Optional: Wait until the subsequent system reboot completed. 3.
