This directory also contains the README.TXT file that contains useful information for each of these drivers. 3c595.dd.bin (devices.pci.b7105090) 3c905.dd.bin (devices.pci.b7105059) skfddi.dd.bin (devices.pci.48110040) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The preferred method to access the 3rd Party AIX DDs from IBM's ftp server is to use the Netscape Browser; 1) Open location "ftp.software.ibm.com/devices/rs6000/oemadapters" 2) Point and click on the README.TXT icon for review (it identifies each DD filename and important data on which DD supports what machines/ adapters/AIX levels) 3) Point and click on the appropriate filename icon to download it to the desired location on your machine (using the Netscape prompts) 4) You can then install it using SMIT or SMITTY from either a diskette or the hardfile, be sure to read the README for any uninstall requirements first If you do not have access to Netscape, you can also do it the old fashion way via the ftp command line prompt; 1) ftp to server "ftp.software.ibm.com" 2) When prompted, login as "anonymous" and use your full e-mail address as the password (e.g. "mbauer@vnet.ibm.com") 3) Once logged in, cd to directory "devices/rs6000/oemadapters" 4) Get the file README.TXT and review it (it identifies each DD filename and important data on which DD supports what machines/adapters/AIX levels) 5) Get the appropriate file to the desired location on your machine (make sure to set binary mode BEFORE you issue the get) 6) You can then install it using SMIT or SMITTY from either a diskette or the hardfile, be sure to read the README for any uninstall requirements first NOTE: The "ftp.software.ibm.com" server is accessible only OUTSIDE the IBM internal network. Due to security concerns, direct internal access is not available. This means that the normal ftp command will not see this external server if you are trying to access it from an IBM machine that is behind the firewall. However AIX users that have access to the Austin AFS cell (and possibly other internal cells) can use rftp instead to access it. Additional information on rftp is avaialble at "http://antero.swm.boulder.ibm.com/internet/access/fixdist.html". This firewall restriction is does not apply to the preferred Netscape based option described above.
