Microsoft Announces Upgrade to SQL Server for OS/2 New Version Offers Features From Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 1, 1993 Microsoft Corporation announced today that Microsoft SQL Server 4.2b for OS/2, an enhanced network database server, will ship this week as part of its ongoing commitment to customers using SQL Server on the OS/2 platform. In developing Microsoft SQL Server 4.2b for OS/2, Microsoft has enhanced the product for closer consistency with Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT. The 4.2b upgrade is supported on OS/2 1.3 and OS/2 2.1 and offers such features as the SQL Object Manager, SQL Administrator, Network Integration Kit technology, revised documentation and a troubleshooting guide, which are also features of Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT. Customers currently using Microsoft SQL Server for OS/2 can also migrate to the higher-performance Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT without losing their investments in existing OS/2 environments. Microsoft SQL Server for OS/2 and Microsoft SQL Server for Windows NT are fully compatible, and migration requires no changes to the existing OS/2 database environment or client applications. The upgrade to the Microsoft SQL Server 4.2b for OS/2 is available to current users of Microsoft SQL Server for OS/2 for an upgrade price of $199. For customers who wish to migrate to SQL Server for Windows NT, Microsoft offers a $995 license exchange fee.
