INTRODUCTION
============

The disk provided with this Application Note contains SMTPPUT.EXE, a
replacement file for the SMTPPUT.EXE file that is included with
version 3.0 of Microsoft Mail Gateway to SMTP. This replacement file
corrects a problem where duplicate message or nondelivery reports may
appear when backboning Microsoft Mail postoffices via SMTP.


To update your SMTPPUT.EXE file
-------------------------------

1. Insert the enclosed GW0649 disk in your floppy disk drive.

2. At the MS-DOS command prompt, type the following and press ENTER

      copy <drive>:\smtpput.exe <destination>

   where <drive> is the floppy disk drive containing the GW0649 disk
   and <destination> is the drive and directory where your SMTPPUT.EXE
   file currently resides. For example, if SMTPPUT.EXE is located in
   the MAILEXE directory on drive C and the GW0649 disk is in drive A,
   type the following command:

      copy a:\smtpput.exe c:\mailexe

   A message will be displayed stating: 1 file(s) copied.
   This indicates that your SMTPPUT.EXE file has been successfully
   replaced.

    NOTE:  SMTPPUT.EXE is typically installed on the postoffice server
    in the MAILEXE directory as well as on the computer running the
    SMTP gateway software. Make sure you update all copies of
    SMPTPUT.EXE.
