# 5002- CorelSHOW 5 Runtime Player CorelSHOW Runtime Player makes it very easy to send a slide show presentation, created in CorelSHOW 5, to anyone using Windows 3.1 or higher, but not using CorelDRAW . To create a portable screen show, perform the following steps: 1. Save the CorelSHOW file as a CorelSHOW Player file. To do this, click File, Save As, and click the *.SHR file type from the List Files of Type list box . Type a file name and choose the directory to save to. Note: A file with the extension *.SHR is non-editable and contains 256 colors. This file type can only be run as a screen show. Therefore, before saving the file as a presentation, save a copy of this file as a CorelSHOW *.SHW file. This will allow you to edit the show in the future. 2. Enable the Screen Show check box. This will allow you to choose one or all of the options revealed, such as Render in Low Resolution and Use Device Dependent Bitmaps. 3. Copy the file CORELPLR.EXE from the COREL50\PROGRAMS directory, as well as the *.SHR file, to a diskette. Screenshow Options: CorelSHOW 4 Saves the presentation so that it can be edited and/or played in CorelSHOW 4, and the CorelSHOW 4 Runtime Player. Move Links If you are saving this presentation file to any type of portable media or floppy disk, check this option so that linked information (file) will be saved in the same directory as the presentation. Render In Low Resolution Enabling this option will save the screen show in a lower resolution, (approximately « the original), resulting in a much smaller file size, and faster screen show. Use Device Dependent Bitmaps Enabling this option will save the screen show pages as device dependent bitmaps optimized for your computer. This will increase the overall speed of the screen show. However, when this option is enabled, it can only be run on a computer that has the same video card, video driver and resolution settings of the computer used to build and save it. Limitations Since the CorelSHOW Runtime Player creates many temp files when running, make certain that the computer running the show has 1 to 1.5 MBs of free disk space, per slide, to ensure that the *.SHR file will run correctly. For example, if you have a file containing 10 slides, the system that will be running this requires 10 to 15 MBs of free disk space on the drive where temp files are located. If the *.SHR file contains any kind of animation, you will require animation drivers on the runtime computer. Run the CorelDRAW installation on the runtime computer and choose a Custom Installation. Install only CorelSHOW, and enable the Animation Drivers. This step is not necessary if the runtime computer is loaded with the animation program that created the files. If you wish to use sound in your show ensure that the runtime system has a sound card, speakers, and that any embedded sound files, such as *.WAV, can be played through Windows. When saving a show in runtime format, some transition effects will not convert well. Here is a list of transition effects that will and will not run smoothly in the *.SHR format: Smooth Transition Effects Cell Left Curtain Close/Open Wipe Up/Down/Left/Right Zoom In/Out/Slow/Fast Coarse Transition Effects Horizontal/Vertical Blind Cell Left Dissolve Zoom In Dissolve Zoom Out Dissolve Saving Screen Show to Disk Since a runtime file can become quite large, you may encounter difficulties when attempting to save it to a diskette. You may need to compress the file, using a compression utility. Using this type of utility will drastically decrease the size of your *.SHR file. Note: Ensure that the person receiving the runtime show also has the decompression utility that corresponds to your compressed file.
