The Fargo IBM Users Group is a cooperative, educational organization open to anyone interested in microcomputers. 2. The Fargo Users Group specializes in IBM and all compatible computers. 3. The Fargo Users Group is not associated with IBM in any way. IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines. II. Statement of Purpose 1. The Fargo Users Group seeks to offer education and assistance for individuals interested in microcomputers by providing the following services: 1) Monthly meetings. These serve as a forum for questions and answers regarding computer hardware and software. The Fargo Users Group works conjointly with developers, distributors, retailers, educators, and other computer professionals to demonstrate, discuss, and evaluate computer hardware and software. 2) Newsletter. This is designed to keep users abrest of computer-related news and information on the local level, and to provide reviews and opinions about hardware, software, and trends in the microcomputer industry. 3) Bulletin Board System. The bulletin board serves as an international exchange for public domain and "user- supported" software. It also acts as a forum for discussion. 4) Library. The library serves as a repository of public domain and "user-supported" software. Programs within the library are screened so as to comply with the statement of ethics. Such programs are made available to users at a nominal fee. 2. The Fargo Users Group seeks to promote the development of microcomputer technology by: 1) Encouraging wise investment in computer hardware and software through product demonstrations and hands-on comparisons of hardware and software products. 2) Supporting local microcomputer dealers by offering free counsel and advice to individuals new to the complexities of computers. 3) Participating in user feedback to the compter industry regarding products. We encourage users to respond to products which they feel are noteworthy and useful on the one hand, or poorly designed and misleading on the other. III. Statement of Ethics The Fargo Users Group is unalterably opposed to the private reproduction of commercial software for distribution or resale to others. We do not condone, encourage, or practice the production of "pirate" copies of commercial software. RBBS System Description (11/1/86) 1) RBBS Node 1: IBM-PC w/ Orchid Blossom & 640K w/ Orchid Network daughterboard, (User) and Multi-Tech 224 modem. 2) RBBS Node 2: Triex Technology AT286 running at 8Mhz, 1000K of memory, one 1.2 (Server) meg floppy, Seagate ST4096 80 meg drive and a Multi-Tech modem. 3) RBBS Node 3: IBM-PC, 512K, 1 foppy, Orchid Network card, and a Multi-Tech 224 (User) modem. 1.
