HELP Help functions as an external DOS command. Its purpose is to provide help with all DOS 2.10 commands. Help has two modes, direct and menu. In direct mode you simply type HELP followed by the command you want information on. Both help and the command may be typed in any combination of upper and lower case letters. The word HELP and the command must be separated by one and only one space. To enter menu mode just type HELP. A menu of all DOS commands will be displayed and you will be prompted to enter a command. After the help screen for the command you select has been displayed you will return to the menu. To leave menu mode strike the enter key without entering a command name. If you enter an unknown command in either mode you will be placed in menu mode and the menu will be displayed. Help Data File The file HELP.DAT contains the help screens and may be modified with any text editor. If you modify the file you must obey the following rules. The first two characters of each line are reserved for a record code. The codes are as follows. #C = the command name in ALL UPPER CASE letters. #F = the function of the command. #X = the command syntax. #E = an example of the command. The record code appears in the first line of the catagory only. Continuation lines are allowed for the function, syntax and example catagories. The continuation lines must have a space in each of the first two positions. The third character of each line must be a space. If the text will not fit on the screen the program will pause and request that you strike a key when ready to continue. You can add new topics to the HELP.DAT file if you wish, however, the menu is part of the program code for speed and can not be changed. Bill Todd P. O. Box 2795 Des Plaines, IL. 60018 odd P. O.
