Home Developers Boards Build Scripts Documentation Links

Although there are many boards that could run Embedded FreeBSD this pages lists only those that are being actively used or targeted by the community at large. The emphasis here is on boards that can be used to prototype products, as opposed to those that are cheap enough to be easily accessible by the hobbyist. This is not to discourage the use of cheaper boards but because it is believed that we can get more people to help with the system if we give them something useful in their work. Each board is between $200 and $300 USD at the time of this writing, May 2006. More details can be found on the respective manufacturer's pages on the links listed below.

ARM

One board under active development for ARM is the Gateway/Avila 2342 Network Processor. The board comes with a 533 MHz IXP 425 CPU, 64 Megabytes of RAM, 16 Megabytes of Flash, 4 Mini-PCI slots, and two 10/100 Ethernet ports. Other boards currently supported include:

MIPS

The first MIPS board to be targeted is the Router Board 532 which has a MIPS 32 4Kc based 266MHz CPU, 32 Megabytes of RAM, 1Mbit Flash chip Data storage, 128 Megabytes of NAND flash, CompactFlash type I/II slot, three Ethernet ports and two MiniPCI Type IIIA/IIIB slots.
