I am unsure of which driver it loads but dmesg reports: pcm0: port 0x8400-0x84ff mem 0xd0008000-0xd0008fff irq 11 at device 8.0 on pci0 pcm0: I then open XMMS and attempt to play a MP3. I have tried various MP3s. All files play fine for 15 seconds, mixer works too, and then it stops: the audio stops, XMMS stops counting. This occurs with other audio applications as well, and audio will not work without a reboot of the notebook. I have tried unloading and reloading the driver but this does not solve the problem. eMachines reports the sound on this m2350 notebook to be a "2001 compliant AC97 audio controller". I have not been able to test this under FreeBSD 5.3 because FreeBSD 5.3's installer has trouble mounting the drive and will not install (seperate bug). >How-To-Repeat: Boot FreeBSD 5.2 on an eMachines m2350. As root, type kldload snd_driver. Open XMMS, play any file (you can use other audio applications as well). After 15 seconds, the counter will stop. The application does not freeze, but will not play anymore data. >Fix: Reboot, but this only recycles the bug such that you get another 15 seconds of audio. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-i386->freebsd-multimedia Responsible-Changed-By: arved Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Oct 5 16:59:57 GMT 2005 Responsible-Changed-Why: over to multimedia group http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=74191 State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: netchild State-Changed-When: Wed Dec 28 19:53:15 UTC 2005 State-Changed-Why: Is this still the case with a recent -current or with 6.0 and the corresponding patchset in http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/? http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=74191 State-Changed-From-To: feedback->closed State-Changed-By: linimon State-Changed-When: Sun Jan 29 05:15:59 UTC 2006 State-Changed-Why: Feedback timeout (1 month). http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=74191 >Unformatted:
