Current PCs without "legacy" support use USB floppies which appear as /dev/da0. >How-To-Repeat: Observed on Sony VAIO PCG-SRX7E/P by booting from 4.5-RELEASE floppies and selecting fixit option from sysinstall. The drive is detected, but as da0 not fd0. Any chance that we could have an option in the option screen to set the device for a floppy drive or something similar to let me use a fixit floppy from a different device ? >Fix: * Change sysinstall to allow (at least) /dev/da0 (Note that this would still be an issue if the unit has internal or other scbus devices) * Consider allowing NFS mount of fixit filesystems >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->joe Responsible-Changed-By: kris Responsible-Changed-When: Thu Jul 17 17:30:17 PDT 2003 Responsible-Changed-Why: Assign to USB maintainer http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=35925 From: Makoto Matsushita To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: bin/35925: fixit floppy cannot be mounted on USB drive Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 17:10:28 +0900 kris> Responsible-Changed-Why: kris> Assign to USB maintainer If I understand the root of this problem right, this is not an issue of USB, but an issue of sysinstall only knows that 'floppy drive' is named as 'fd' (read: hardcoded device name is a problem) but that's not true. -- - Makoto `MAR' Matsushita Responsible-Changed-From-To: joe->freebsd-bugs Responsible-Changed-By: njl Responsible-Changed-When: Thu Aug 21 20:23:50 PDT 2003 Responsible-Changed-Why: The above person is right -- this is a sysinstall limitation. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=35925 Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-qa Responsible-Changed-By: linimon Responsible-Changed-When: Sun Aug 29 07:45:37 GMT 2004 Responsible-Changed-Why: sysinstall problem. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=35925 State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: randi State-Changed-When: Sat Jun 6 01:50:49 UTC 2009 State-Changed-Why: duplicate of bin/61152 http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=35925 >Unformatted:
