After deleting 2 exiting partitions and creating a new partition out of the free space, I tried to write the partition table. However, in the process of deleting one of those partition (ad0s2), I caused the partitions to be out of order. Unfortunately, when I tried to write the ptable, it tried to write the part info in the wrong order and failed. After rebooting, the machine would not boot, saying "invalid partition table". I had to use the sysinstall on my installation CD-ROM to fix the problem. This keeps happening every time I try to use the /stand/sysinstall on my machine now. >How-To-Repeat: see desc. >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-qa Responsible-Changed-By: murray Responsible-Changed-When: Sun Sep 23 23:24:00 PDT 2001 Responsible-Changed-Why: The fine folks on freebsd-qa love to fix sysinstall bugs. http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=29375 Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-qa->qa Responsible-Changed-By: johan Responsible-Changed-When: Sat Aug 24 19:48:09 PDT 2002 Responsible-Changed-Why: Use short names for mailing list to make searches using the web query form work with the shown responsible.
